At a recent reading of
my children's picture book, "You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth
Fairy?," I decided to start off by talking about the importance of
brushing and flossing. To
make my point, I had even purchased little brightly colored stick
flossers, made by Crayola, so that the kids and I could floss together.
Alas, the flossers were my downfall with that tough crowd. One
adorable little girl, after finally managing to yank the inch-long
strip of heavyweight floss from between her two front baby teeth, eyed
me with disgust and announced, "I have to go now." Could I
blame her? NO! Because in demonstrating the floss, I got the darn thing
stuck between my teeth too! But at least I didn't have drool all down
the front of my shirt like she did! Two other little girls,
after watching her trot off, grabbed hands and merrily skipped off as
well. The smirks on their faces would have been priceless--IF they'd
been laughing at someone else! Note to self: try out all props at home BEFORE taking them public!
